3 Reasons for Buying Pedal Cars and Pedal Planes

Filed in mary winchester Comments Off

Twice a year parents and grandparents are presented with a most pleasant quandary, what to give little Johnnie or Mary for their birthday or Christmas present It’s a problem fraught with possible controversy, because the child’s requests are sometimes unrealistic, usually got from the television where they have been targeted by commercial advertising; giving them ideas for presents that are quite different from the gifts the parents and grandparents had in mind.

I would like to present grandparents and parents with an answer to their prayers: the ideal present, a pedal car or pedal plane in the following paragraphs, I will put forward three good reasons why a pedal car is the perfect present

The first reason for buying a pedal car or pedal airplane is that you will be buying a present that lasts. you do not usually think of considering how long a toy will last. Indeed, with many of the modern toys you are buying an eye-catching packaged product, which conceals a disappointingly small toy within. the toy may require batteries which will need regular replacing. It will be played with for a limited time, because the craze for that TV program may not last and toy put away in the toy box. Imaginative play will be restricted and it could well be broken before the end of the day

However, when you buy a pedal car or pedal plane you are opening up a world of adventure and excitement within your child’s own mind, not based on a craze or program. This makes them become more interesting little people. they pedal their own car and transport themselves into their own world, maybe Jenson Button’s of the future in Formula 1, or in their own car of the future.

Many a pilot has been born as he pedals his way through the clouds in his imagination. Maybe even farmers have been created by driving a pedal tractor and helping in the garden on their pedal tractor and trailer. moreover, you are buying quality

The pedal cars are made of steel and have baked enamel paint work. There are wonderful details, like chrome bumpers, hood, windshield and hub caps, padded seats and solid rubber tires. you are buying a toy that will last for generations and you can think of it as an investment – because there are many collectors.Pedal toys can also be sold on e-Bay.

The second reason for buying a pedal toy, is to encourage your child to play outside in the fresh air. Ensuring they have enough exercise and do not become chair bound with their electronic toys and TV

These days children are protected and not given the freedom to play outside so much and are taught how to be computer literate at a much earlier age. so being outside in the fresh air becomes less welcoming to the children, especially if the weather isn’t good. without creative play in the open air children become more tentative, less socially motivated and more likely to become involved in many of the social networking sites..

So, buying a pedal car or pedal plane is the ideal exercise machine. not only do they strengthen their legs but the whole motion of pedaling encourages co-ordination – and it gives the child very early lessons in judgement and competence on the road, as well as getting them outside

The third reason for buying a pedal toy is that as a parent, uncle, aunt or grandparent you will become the most popular person in the world, by giving a pedal car, pedal plane or pedal tractor as a present the child who gets the pedal toy will be so overjoyed that he will be outside playing with it immediately, regardless of the weather they will be behind the wheel of their own car and trying to be big shots like their Dad and Mum.

Amazing Toy Helicopter For Kids – Amazing Price Too

Filed in just for fun winchester Comments Off

You wouldn’t believe this mini remote control Toy Helicopter for Kids that I just bought for my son — the other amazing thing is the price. It seems like an expensive electronic toy but I’ll tell you where you can get it for just 25% of the original price.

Tell me about this Toy

The Helicopter is called Syma 3 Channel S107 Mini Indoor Co-Axial Metal Body Frame & Built-in Gyroscope RC Remote Controlled Helicopter, made by Syma.

  • Mini – Only 7.5 long, weighs just 34 grams
  • Has a very durable metal frame (looks like a real helicopter)
  • Remote controlled Automatically stabilizes for steady lift off – this lets everyone quickly learn how to control it
  • Rechargeable battery charges through transmitter which is provided
  • Really flies all over your house

Remember, this is made for kids. The manufacturer recommends 8 years old and up for flying this toy. It really is not for younger children but I think it is also a lot of fun for 13 year olds too.

Where is the Best Deal?

You can spend a lot of time looking on the internet (I hate finding all those expired coupons or stores that are out of stock). Most websites finished their toy sales before Christmas so you’ll end up finding a lot of invalid information on the web.

I have a favorite site that is always up to date on the best sales. this site scans the web for deals and updates their site every week with the best deals.

Grandma Shops For Toys For Christmas 2009

Filed in tate winchester Comments Off

Toys have always been a love of mine. when I was a little girl I was thrilled with the mystery and surprise of receiving a new toy. later with children of my own I was once again able to visit the world of toys. I even considered owning a toy shop.

Christmas is once again almost upon us and many of us are combing the stores, scratching our heads, or searching online for toys to buy. I now have five wonderful grandchildren. they age from five months to age six. I am excited to be searching for toys for them. in the last couple of years I have done this search almost exclusively online. I find there are copious amounts of information about the toys that are available and the prices are excellent.

For the babies on my list I am considering:

Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper - This toy was at my Granddaughter’s daycare and all the very small children loved it. they loved putting the balls in the spiral track and they never seemed to tire of the balls popping out the top. I am not sure if any of them figured out why the balls were popping out but it did produce lots of giggles and amusement.

LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical Table - One of the nice things about this musical table is that baby can play with it if it is flat on the floor. Then when they begin to pull themselves up baby can hold onto it and push the various activity buttons for sounds and music. I like this toy because it is suitable for children 6 months to 3 years.

Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo - Nothing baby likes better than to jump. Once a baby is able to hold their head well this is a great toy for trying out those legs without putting any weight on them. There are toys all around it. Some of them will make sounds when the baby jumps. Other are great for grasping or batting. the seat swivels 360 degrees. It is very portable and can be stored easily.

Fisher-Price Amazing Animals Sing and go Choo-Choo - This is an adorable train. It is suitable for babies that are crawling. One of the wonderful things about it is there are no tracks from which train will fall off. the colors of the train and the animals are beautiful. by placing one of the animals in the engine Baby will get a song. the train lights up, plays music and makes sounds.

For the toddlers on my list I am looking at:

Fisher-Price go Baby go Bounce & Spin Zebra - This comes either as a zebra or a pony. It is great for toddlers that can climb up on it and rock away. It is low to the ground so any spills will not harm the child. as well as rocking the child can spin on it. It helps with balance and the beginning of coordination. It is a fun toy.

LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set - This magnetic game can be placed on any metal surface like the refrigerator at the best height for baby. the animals are big enough not to be choking hazards. Initially baby will delight in pushing the buttons to activate the sounds. as baby grows and matures a bit they will start to match the body parts of the animals and equate the animal to the sounds. even if they mismatch them they get a silly name for the animal. It is portable so children can play with it on the floor out of the way of dinner preparations.

Melissa and Doug Deluxe Standing Easel - I think an easel is a necessary part of every child’s life. Once a child can stand and hold a crayon an easel will allow them hours of entertainment and creativity. This particular easel is sturdy and allows for painting, chalk, crayons and dry erase.

Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set - This is a darling set of play dishes in beautiful pastel colors. what child does not want to mimic the adults in their life and serve them food? Built of sturdy plastic it will stand those occasions when the tea just drops from little hands. the teapot is darling and plays I am a little teapot.

Tonka Toughest Mighty Truck – Children need trucks in their lives and no one makes them better than Tonka. I am sure we had this same truck when our children were young. It is rugged and stands up to lots of abuse. We have always restricted these bigger Tonka toys to outdoors but they can be used indoors with supervision.

For the four to five year olds on my list I am considering:

LeapFrog Text and Learn – by this age children want to do everything that the adults in their lives do. with everyone running around with Blackberries and I Phones this gives this age group their own hand held device. It also allows them to begin to explore words and start to spell.

LEGO Duplo 5380 Building Set – Like Tonka, Lego has survived and improved over the decades. It remains a favorite with boys and girls. One of the benefits of buying Lego is that you can add to it at a birthday or next Christmas.

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera - again just like Mum and Dad children adore taking their own pictures. they don’t worry about composition they just snap away. they are thrilled to have their pictures uploaded to the computer with everyone else’s pictures. these cameras are almost indestructible and reasonably waterproof. A kindergarten teacher uses them in her class room and the kids love it.

Baby Alive Learns to Potty - This doll has the most enormous engaging blue eyes. she eats, she pees and she poops. she also talks and has phrases like oh oh I did a stinky that put children into gales of laughter. It is possible to introduce her earlier than age four when children are being trained themselves. At the earlier age the child playing with her needs supervision. she is delightful.

Barbie and the three Musketeers – after 50 years Barbie is still a much sought after item. the Barbie and the three Musketeers series of dolls and accessories is this year’s version. the concept is built around the theory that girls can do anything they put their minds to do – even become Musketeers as well as the dolls there is a magical castle and carriage. what fairy tale would be complete without them?

For our six to eight year olds my list includes;

Transformers - these action figures that are also three dimensional puzzles delight the boys that own them. even small boys who have no knowledge of the comics or movies entertain themselves with their own adventures. the top selling ones are Optimus Prime, Ultimate Bumblebee, Devastator and Megatron.

Bakugan 7 in 1 Maxus Dragonoid - while adults scratch their heads in wonderment, small boys engage with these marble like spheres. This is an extension of the Japanese game Bakugan in which warriors are pitted against each other. I think the fascinating thing about these magnetic marble like warriors is that small boys who have no knowledge of the strategy game can invent their own way of playing with them. I like this game as it will last as the players get older and more interested in learning the game.

Mindflex Game - Without question this is the #1 selling game this year. since its introduction earlier this year it has intrigued players looking for something other than mind games. This out of the future game has players wearing sensors and by their abilities to concentrate controlling the speed of the fans in the console. many customers who have already purchased it report increased ability to concentrate in their youngsters. It is recommended for age 8 and up.

Nintendo DS Lite - This video game system is great for quiet times and for travelling. There seems to be endless games that can be played on it. It has the ability to wirelessly connect so players can pit their skills with others all over the world. One of the very popular applications for this hand held device is the Mario Kart DS.

LeapFrog Tag Reading system - I see my grandchildren in this age bracket really interested in learning to read for themselves. This is another great product from LeapFrog to help them do this. This system has won many awards for the over 17 learning activities that it has.

These are some of my selection that I think fit the criteria of durable, lasting and fun.

Imaginext Dragon World Fortress – A Good Choice For Your Child?

Filed in winchester angel Comments Off

Thinking of buying the Imaginext Dragon World Fortress play set for your child this Christmas? if so, get in line This looks like a pretty popular toy this year. But. is it a wise choice, or should you spend your money elsewhere? with the economy the way it is, you know you want quality and value, whatever toy you choose for your child.

First of all, what are the most important qualities a toy should possess in order to make it a winner? in my opinion, a toy should meet these 4 requirements:

  1. It should inspire imaginative play. Kids need imaginative play in order to develop optimally. Without this potential of imaginative play, children tend to tire of a toy quickly and will move on to something else.
  2. It should be sturdy, safe and age appropriate.
  3. It should engage the child with bright colors and playable, interactive features.
  4. should outlive the trendiness factor and still be considered a good toy years from now.

Thankfully, Fisher-Price continues to produce wonderful toys that, for the majority of them, meet these criteria very well. the Imaginext Dragon World Fortress certainly seems to. one small drawback that has come up is a bit of instability of the product, since it is fairly tall and narrow. This seems to be rectified by folding out the hidden set of stairs underneath the castle, which widens the base of the product.

Whether you decide to purchase this toy for your child of not, you should still make sure that the toy you do choose also meets these important criteria.

All in all, it seems that the Imaginext Dragon World Fortress toy hits the mark.

The Top UK Tourist Attractions Outside Of London

Filed in things to do in winchester uk Leave a comment

Are you planning a vacation to the UK in the near future? Are you unsure about the best places to visit during your trip to England? quite a lot of people who travel to the UK do not even venture outside of the capital, London. I have to admit there is a lot going on and to see in this famous city but there are many more amazing places to visit in England before you make your way back home.

I am from England myself, I live in the countries second biggest city which is called Birmingham. I love to visit London for at least one weekend in the year but in this article I am going to write about some places to visit that are located outside of the capital.

I personally think that York in the north of England is a lovely place to spend a couple of days. there are some top restuarants and the cobbled pavements are quite unique.

Bath in the south west of the country would be my second choice. The Roman Baths are quite amazing and there is a superb shop dedicated to all things to do with Christmas, in the centre of the town.

I always spend one week of the summer in the English Riviera. This is basically Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. The coastal views and the coastal walks are quite spectacular.

Other places that I would strongly recommend people to visit in the UK are; Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, Ludlow and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Selling Property Privately Is Even More Beneficial in A Down Market

Filed in property for sale in winchester uk Leave a comment

There is so much downward pressure on prices that sellers really need to give themselves some kind of edge to get the best price. Widening a home’s exposure by selling privately is one way of doing this.

Nicholas Leeming, commercial director of Zoopla, said: For the past few months, asking prices have been somewhat out of kilter with what buyers are prepared or can afford to pay, but sellers are becoming increasingly realistic.

The traditional new Year influx of properties coming to the market for sale will mean even more competition among sellers, and many are keen to try to secure a buyer this side of Christmas and are lowering their expectations accordingly.

Strangely, the percentage of sellers reducing their asking prices is highest in the south, with half of all sellers in Swindon, 47% of Norwich home sellers, and 46% of Bournemouth sellers having cut their asking price at least once since August. The same goes for more than 40% of sellers in Poole, Exeter, Bristol, Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester and Northampton.

While a higher percentage of sellers have been cutting prices in the south, the cuts have been smaller. The average reduction in Poole was 5.1%, and in London the average reduction was 5.2%. however, because houses in London and the south are more expensive, these cuts are still higher in real terms; nearly 21,000 and over 31,000 respectively.

It seems that we bears were right to predict a second crash. Prices should never have started rising last year, and did so only because of drastically weak supply levels. now the abolition of HIPS and other factors increasing supply, on top of the economic outlook and current and impending government cut backs, high unemployment and millions of people still on reduced or frozen salaries, the only way is down for UK house prices.

While the financial crisis was a major catalyst, UK house prices crashed because they had risen faster than incomes, and become unaffordable for first time buyers. Because they didn’t fall or correct far enough a second fall became inevitable when prices started rising last year — it was only a matter of time.

Portsmouth Christmas Parties Expected To Outperform Their Southampton Counterparts in 2011, Say Eventa

Filed in southhampton uk Leave a comment

Eventa, organisers of Christmas parties for groups and companies in the UK, have predicted that events held in Portsmouth in 2011 will outperform those held in Southampton in terms of the speed of uptake PDF  View as PDF  Print View

June 29, 2011 (FPRC) — Eventa, the UK’s fastest growing organiser of Christmas parties for groups and companies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, have announced that they expect this year’s Portsmouth Christmas parties to outperform their Southampton counterparts in terms of the speed with which the Christmas party places are booked up. That’s according to a study of the amount of sales and enquiries for the two locations and the results have surprised Eventa CEO Rob Hill. “It’s very surprising, yes”, he claims. “Southampton is traditionally one of our most popular Christmas party locations and to have Portsmouth, a much smaller city with fewer party venues, outperforming it to such an extent is very surprising indeed.” Hill does however have an explanation for the trend: “Christmas parties in Portsmouth are a little bit cheaper than in Southampton this year and we’ve got some really interesting themes, such as the Las Vegas night, so the proximity of the two means that groups nearer to Southampton are heading to Pompey.” Southampton is home to a large number of national companies such as Ford and B&Q, as well as the West Quay shopping centre housing stores such as Apple and Ikea. all groups that would be looking to attend a Christmas party, in other words. Hill says that a lot of these groups are spending the day in Portsmouth, exploring areas such as Gun Wharf Quay and the nearby port and then booking into hotels for the night after their Christmas parties. “They spend the night so that they don’t have to rush back to Southampton. It is only around 30 minutes on the train and this can be done first thing in the morning without any hassle.” among the other events attracting guests to Portsmouth this year are a number of mid-week party nights, offering places for better value on off-peak nights.

My Winchester Blogging: Radio Script – Final Bulletin

Filed in hampshire county council winchester Leave a comment

So here it is, Merry Christmas… wait, that’s not right. this is actually my final piece of radio for the year and is in fact just the previous three that have posted right here on this blog all edited together nicely. well it’s been fun doing the radio module, going out and trying to get stories… failing. trying to edit and record your copy… generally succeeding. but now we’re done, and I leave you with the script and the final bulletin itself in YouTube form.

Hampshire County Council has agreed to change the way social care is paid for in the area because the current system is thought to be unfair.

In a meeting this past week it was agreed that those who need social care will all have their own individualised budget tailored to their needs. the new plan would ensure that people contribute to their own care based on their ability to pay, not the services they choose.

The new policy will mean an average increase of between twenty eight and thirty six pounds per week for those affected. with heavy cuts to the council’s budget this plan would mean less contribution from the council to certain users of social care whilst others who are less able to pay would receive a larger grant.
